The NY Post gave this update yesterday on Emily Willis'
condition:
Emily Willis’ condition has slightly improved since she
suffered cardiac arrest and fell into a coma while at a celebrity rehab center
two months ago.
Willis, 25, who remains in a vegetative state inside a
California hospital, has seemingly regained consciousness, her stepfather,
Michael, told TMZ.
The outlet added that Willis can track things with her eyes,
smile and become emotional during conversations.
Willis, whose real name is Litzy Lara Banulos, had been at
the rehab center in Malibu for eight days, receiving treatment for addiction,
when she was found unresponsive in what was initially thought to be a drug
overdose.
She was rushed to a hospital in Thousand Oaks, Calif., where
she was admitted into the critical care unit and was placed on a ventilator on
Feb. 5, the outlet reported.
Willis has remained in the same hospital.
Unfortunately for her family, doctors aren’t expecting much
more improvement from Willis than what she has already made.
A toxicology report found no traces of drugs in her system,
leaving doctors confused on how she went into cardiac arrest.
The family hopes to move Willis from the California hospital
to one in St. George, Utah, where she would be closer to loved ones and receive
care that isn’t as expensive.
The former adult film actress’s brother had created a
GoFundMe page to help the family raise money for her costly medical bills.
The crowdsourcing campaign has raised over $65,000 of the
$60,000 goal.
Following initial reports of her hospitalization,
speculation and rumors began to spread across the internet regarding Willis’
health, which forced her family to release a statement earlier this month.
“I am posting this update to inform all her friends and fans
who are concerned about my sisters wellbeing. There has been a lot of
misinformation regarding our beloved Emily’s condition, and we wanted to
clarify her progress and current state. Emily remains in a vegetative coma and
is fighting for her life.”
“Regarding the reports of an overdose, we want to clarify
that they are not accurate as far as the doctors and my family know. Emily was
receiving the treatment and help she needed at the time of the incident to
overcome her struggles.
“She retired from the adult industry nearly two years ago
and had aspirations of success in other fields of entertainment. Those who
worked with her in her new career path knew she had the potential to achieve
her dreams.”
